Lana Reneè Reed, 45, died April 6, 2010 at St. Francis Hospital, Topeka. She was born Dec. 27, 1964 in Hutchinson to Excel and Mary Ann Thrasher Reed. She graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1983 and attended Hutchinson Community College. She graduated from Washburn University in 1990 with a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice.

Lana was a member of the NAACP, Emancipation Day Committee, and the Hutchinson Chamber of Commerce. She was a former Human Relations Officer at City Hall and she was a former social worker for Social Rehabilitation Services in South Hutchinson.

Survivors include two sons: Jamahl and Jarell Reed, both of Hutchinson; daughter: Jasmine Reed, South Hutchinson; granddaughter: McKenna Troyer, South Hutchinson; moms: Mary Ann Goldsby and Pat Reed, both of Hutchinson; four sisters: Melony and Pamela Reed, both of Hutchinson, Suzanne Bastin, Olathe, and Margo Reneè Thrasher, Warrensburg, MO; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Excel Reed and her brother, Mark Reed.

Funeral will be 1:00 p.m., Wed., April 14, 2010 at Elliott Chapel with Rev. William J. Green, Sr. presiding. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park. Visitation will be 9-9 Tuesday with the family to receive friends from 6-8 at Elliott Mortuary.
