Larry Dean Brooks' Obituary
Larry Dean Brooks, 75, died July 6, 2014, at Hospice House. He was born Feb. 23, 1939, in Mullinville, Kan., to Rex and Retha (Killingsworth) Brooks.
He graduated from Greensburg High School in 1957, and attended Pratt Community College. Larry was a retired Hutchinson firefighter and owner/operator of Heartland Sales, Inc. He was a member of Westside Baptist Church, American Legion, and Carey Park Golf Course.
On Dec. 29, 1966, he married Faith Alene Robertson in Greensburg. She survives. Other survivors include: stepson, Brian Robertson and wife LeAnn of Hutchinson; daughter, Deana Moore and husband Paul of Dodge City; son, Gearld Brooks of Pratt; step grandson, Kyle Robertson and wife Jenny; sister, Nell Taylor of Holton; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Larry was preceded in death by a son, Dearld Brooks; his parents; brothers, Floyd, Wendel, Jay and Elmer Brooks; and sister, Lila Coates.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 10, 2014, at Westside Baptist Church, with Pastor Tim Adrian officiating. Burial will be in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or donor's choice, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
