Larry "Kansaskid" E. Schwiethale, 69, died June 13, 2010, at Promise Regional Medical Center in Hutchinson.
He was born July 4, 1940, in Stafford, the son of Lawrence and Elsie Marie Hofen Schwiethale. He graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1958. He began working for Betts Baking Company and later was a businessman and restaurant owner and operator in Swift Current, Saskatchewan. He then moved to Phoenix, Arizona, where he was in advertising and real estate for many years. He moved back to Hutchinson in 2002. He was a charter member of the Cheybogan Hot Rod Club in Hutchinson, a member of several other car clubs, and a member of the Full Gospel Businessmans Assn. in Phoenix. He was a loving father and grandfather who will be greatly missed.
Survivors include: a son, Dereck Schwiethale and wife Teri, Port Angeles, Wash.; daughters, Shelly Calderon and husband Steve and Angela Schwiethale, all of Phoenix, Ariz.; his mother, Elsie Schwiethale; and a brother, Harold Schwiethale, both of Hutchinson; grandchildren, Ryan White, Christian Richards and Sonja Hyde, all of Phoenix, Ariz., Seth Schwiethale, Chicago, Ill., Zach Schwiethale, Seattle, Wash., and Levi Schweithale, Port Angeles, Wash.; five great-grandchildren Kyle, Elexis, Brianna, Justin, and Taylor.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 17, 2010, at Elliott Mortuary with Rev. Jeff Prothro presiding. An inurnment service will follow at 2 p.m. on Thursday at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson.
