Larry Vickrey, 83, passed away August 11, 2026, at Sandstone Heights Nursing home in Little River, Kansas. He was born December 6, 1942, in Emporia, Kansas, to Abner H. and Margaret Mae (Burris) Vickrey.

The family moved to Canton, Kansas, when he was 6 years old. Larry had been a resident of the Canton community for the majority of his life.

He fathered two children, Dale Allen and Coreen Lynn, from a previous marriage. Larry married Katherine Olds of Lyons, Kansas on June 24, 1966, in Lyons. To this union, two additional children, Fred Michael and Kathy “Katy” Suzanne, were added to the family.. After Kay passed, Larry moved to McPherson where he met and married his wife Anita Pierce, on May 2, 2019.

Larry is survived by his: wife, Anita Vickrey of San Antonio, Texas; sons, Fred “Mike” Vickrey, McPherson and Dale (Angie) Vickrey, Moundridge; daughters, Kathy “Katy” (Alan) Ames, Bradenton, Florida and Coreen (Brian) Foster, Wichita; step-daughter Jennifer (Joe) Lane of San Antonio, Texas ; 10 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded him in death his: parents; wife, Katherine (Olds) Vickrey; sister, Judy White; brother, Abner Vickrey; and step-son Jeffrey Butson.

Cremation will take place. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
