Lawrence W. Martin, 83, died Nov. 28, 2005, in Hutchinson Hospital.
He was born July 31, 1922, in Iola, the son of Ace V. and Margaret M. Sleeper Martin. He was a graduate of Iola High School. A Hutchinson resident for the past 53 years, he was retired from Santa Fe Railroad.
He was a member of Tenth Avenue United Methodist Church, American Legion Lysle Rishel Post No. 68, VFW Bob Campbell Post No. 1361 and Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employees. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
On Aug. 31, 1951, he married Margurite Klady in Alden. She survives.
Other survivors include: a son, Greg and wife, Kori, Hutchinson; a sister, Mary Schroeter, Merrillville, Ind.; and two grandchildren, Cody and Abbie Martin.
He was preceded in death by a son, Gary.
Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Alden Cemetery, with Pastors Alan D. Stambaugh and Jim Swank presiding, with military graveside honors by the Fort Riley Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, all at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
Memorials, in lieu of flowers, may be sent to Tenth Avenue United Methodist Church, in care of the mortuary.
