Laura E. (Bontrager) Schrock, 88, died Dec. 23, 2011, at Hospice House, Hutchinson.
She was born May 8, 1923, in Hutchinson, the daughter of William and Martha (Yoder) Bontrager.
A lifetime Reno County resident, she was a homemaker and an expert quilter, participating in lots of activities with the women's sewing circles. She was a member of the Yoder Mennonite Church.
On Oct. 8, 1944, she married Allen E. Schrock in Hutchinson. He survives.
Other survivors include: a daughter, Dr. Carol Moore and husband Dr. Ken Moore of Hutchinson; two brothers, Linford Bontrager and wife Shirley of Hutchinson, David Bontrager of Mission, Kan.; a sister, Alice Flewelling and husband Arvid of Jamestown, Kan.; three grandchildren, Kristine and husband Dr. Scott Sullivan of Augusta, James Miller and wife Regina of Wichita, Katherine and husband Dr. Lance Thurlow of Chapel Hill, N.C.; two great-grandchildren, Zoe Renee and David Allen Sullivan. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Dale Schrock; granddaughter, Karen Miller; and four brothers, Morris, Howard, Bill and Alvin Bontrager.
Graveside service will be 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2011, at Yoder Cemetery, with memorial service to follow at 11 a.m. at South Hutchinson Mennonite Church, with Pastors Peter Hartman, Eric Miller and Chaplain Todd Schlosser presiding. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, with family to greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, Hutchinson.
Memorials may be made to Hospice House or Mennonite Manor, in care of the mortuary.
