Lavenia Fontella "Dub" "Miss Woodi" Woodson, 94, died June 15, 2016, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center, Hutchinson. She was born May 7, 1922, in Pratt, to Guy and Agnes Margaret (Creighton) Neal.
She attended the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, worked at Carey Salt in production, AD Special Foods, the Hutchinson Town Club, retired in 1989 as a housekeeper for Gwen Everett, and did catering.
Lavenia loved music and to dance. She would brighten the ladies' days at the Hutchinson Clinic when she would come in singing and skating, but the one thing that she was known for was giving her grandchildren nicknames so she wouldn't forget who they were. Some of those names were: BooJugers, Vivacious, Dowy, Fats Domino, Bad Baby, Anda Panda, Ju Baby and Bethel.
Survivors include: children, Carolyn Woodson of Hutchinson, Shirley Woodson of Greenbelt, Md., Julie Woodson of Hutchinson, and James Woodson Jr. of Hutchinson; 25 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; 16 great great-grandchildren; grandchildren, Sandra, Rita, Drew and Aspen Price; aunt, Galena Mae Woodson Crable; nieces and nephews, Dene Morris, Gene Morris, Jacelyn Woodson, Woodie "WooWoo" Woodson, Tyrone Woodson and wife Gina, Kalich "Leeck", Ashley Woodson, and Allen Woodson, all of Hutchinson, and many, many more; extended family, Teresa Everett Franz and husband Brad, Skip Everett, Mike Everett and wife Linda, Beulah, Mattie Jo, Henry, Truman, John "Exaba", Willa James, Napoleon "Poe", Bismark "Bizzy", Helen, Billy Irving, Ezra Rosas and wife Becky, Tammy Freeman, Tricia Beni, Wildman Toland and wife Lila, Susie Bernard, Steven Bernard, Amelia Orona, Dr. Robert Shears, Doug Lineback and wife Judy; extended grandchildren, Cameron Scott, Avery Scott and wife Laura, and Desiree Ross. She was preceded in death by: her parents; son, Wayne Steven Woodson; daughter, Roslyn Davis; brothers, Herman and Robert Neal; and son-in-law, James Price Sr.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Saturday, June 25, 2016, at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson, with Ezra Rosas presiding. Friends may sign the memorial book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday through Friday and from 9 a.m. to service time Saturday at Elliott Mortuary.
