Obituary

HUTCHINSON - Lavetta McAdams, 84, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, July 6, 2010, at Thorne Care Center.

She was born Sept. 5, 1925, in Kansas City, the daughter of George and Mary Barnett Shultz.

She was a licensed practical nurse for 26 years at St. Elizabeth and Hutchinson Hospitals. A graduate of Pittsburg High School, McPherson School of Practical Nursing, member of Order of Eastern Star and First United Methodist Church, Hutchinson.

On July 4, 1942, she married William H. "Bill" McAdams at Lamar, Mo. He died March 18, 1965.

She is survived by: a son and his wife, Jim and Beverly McAdams, Goddard; sister-in-law, Martha McAdams Teter, Derby; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Jean Wisbey, a granddaughter and a great-great-grandson.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday, July 9, 2010, at Elliott Chapel, with Pastor Jeanine Rishel officiating. Friends may call from 1 to 9 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to service time Friday at Elliott Mortuary. Order of Eastern Star Rites will be conducted by the Silver Leaf Chapter, Hutchinson. Burial will be in Wildmead Cemetery, Nickerson.

Memorial gifts may be made to the Good Samaritan Fund at Wesley Towers in care of the mortuary.
