LaVona Darlene Schmitt, 83, died November 10, 2019, at Andover Court.  She was born March 26, 1936, in Nickerson, to Lloyd Coffey and Julia Zella (Hedrick) Southards.

LaVona graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1954.  She was a homemaker, worked at Hutchinson National Bank, and was treasurer of the Buhler School Board USD #313.  LaVona was a member of Sweet Adelines for almost 40 years.

She was married to LaVern Schmitt for 12 years.  He died September 23, 2018.

LaVona is survived by:  daughters, Pam Chamberlin (Mark Midkiff), of Wichita, Cindy Chase (Kevin) of Derby; brother, Jay Coffey (Dixie) of Independence; sister, Phyllis Scarlett (Rene) of Wichita; grandchildren, Kyler Chase (Brianna Regan), Brayden Chase (Kyla), Jantzen Chase (Chelsea), Alex Chase (Josh Smith), Addie Chase, Courtney Iqbal, Brittney Cuer (James), Kimberly  Foland (Josh); and great-grandchildren, Zara and Zain Iqbal, and Hunter and Hudson Cuer.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 15, 2019, at Elliott Chapel, with Dr. J. Tal Tittsworth officiating.  Burial will follow in Wildmead Cemetery, Nickerson.  Friends may call from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.  Memorials may be made to Hutchinson Sweet Adelines, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N.
