Obituary

Lawrence Edison Case, 98, passed away Aug. 5, 2015, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. He was born July 22, 1917, in Oilton, Okla., to Elmer and Esther (Naugle) Case.

He was a graduate of Blue Mound High School, KS. Lawrence joined the Army in 1946, and served in World War II. He then worked in CCC Camps where he gained a lot of experience. Lawrence was a signal maintainer for Rock Island Railroad for 30 years before retiring in 1979. He was the secretary for the Local 157 Union, a leader for Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts, and Webelos and was one of three founders of the Hutchinson Community Garden program which is located west of the Reformatory.

On March 2, 1955, he married Ettabelle Corina Starlin, of Oxford, KS, in Houston. She passed away on May 25, 2005, after being married for over 50 years.

Survivors include: son, John Case and wife Lorena; daughter, Debra Mehl and husband Gene, all of Hutchinson; 13 grandchildren (including their spouses); and 24 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by six brothers and a sister.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 14, 2015, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with the Reverend Mike McGuire presiding. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park. Friends may call from 1 to 9 p.m. Monday and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, or the Boys and Girls Club of Hutchinson in care of Skip Wilson, both in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 North Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
