Obituary

Lawrence G. Corwin, 79, died March 15, 2008, at Dillon Living Center, Hutchinson.

He was born July 28, 1928, in Hutchinson, the son of Francis and Gladys Goble Corwin. He attended Hutchinson schools. A lifelong Hutchinson resident, he was an electrician for Republic Paper Company and P.C.A. in Hutchinson.

He belonged to Westbrook Baptist Church. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Bob Campbell Post No. 1361 and the American Legion Lysle Rishel Post No. 68. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Korean War. He was discharged as a corporal.

On Sept. 1, 1950, he married Helen Eleanor in Hutchinson. She survives.

Other survivors include: a son, Bruce and wife, Lori, Kokomo, Ind.; a daughter, Cynthia Hague and husband, Kelvin, Derby; two sisters, Carol Mathias and husband, Glen and Irene Smith and husband, Kenneth, all of Hutchinson; and three grandchildren, Matthew Ratzloff, Seattle, Wash., Brandon and Rachel Corwin, Kokomo, Ind.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Richard and Dennis; and a sister, Dorothy Carey.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson, with Robert Shelton presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday with the family present from 7 to 8 p.m. at the mortuary. Burial will be in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson. Military honors will be conducted by Fort Riley Honor Guard at the cemetery.
