Lawrence Edward "Ed" Hoffman, 87, died Sept. 30, 2012, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. He was born Sept. 29, 1925, at Nickerson, the son of Lawrence Elmer and Irene Hatfield Hoffman.
He served in the Navy Seebees in World War II and in the Navy LSMR in the Korean Conflict. After 35 years of working his way through the ranks he retired from Standard Brands/Nabisco on April 1, 1986, as National Sales Manager, Military.
On Feb. 14, 1944, he married his wife of 68 years Viola Annette Johnson in Oakland, Calif. She survives. Other survivors include: their children and spouses, James and Kay of Wichita, Ronald and Joy of Kansas City, Mo., Connie Christensen of Ft. Smith, Ark.; a sister, Bernese Bookless of Hutchinson; four grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Cecil, Keith, Paul and Jerry; a sister, Ruth Brown; and a son-in-law, David Christensen.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012, at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Mike Herring officiating. Burial with Navy Military Honors will be in Fairlawn Burial Park. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Elliott Mortuary. Family will greet friends one hour prior to service time in the church parlor.
