Lawrence Matthew Forney, 100, died Aug. 14, 2012, at Mennonite Friendship Communities.
He was born Aug. 4, 1912, in Mitchell County, Kan., to Henry Harrison and Bessie Blossom Rounkles Forney.
He married Letha Delores Leaf in 1934. She died March 21, 2004. He later married Amy Anne Corns on Dec. 31, 1942. She died July 20, 1975. Then he married Cecile L. Hamer on Aug. 4, 1977. She died April 14, 2006.
He was a member of South Hutchinson Christian Church, a lifetime member of V.F.W. Bob Campbell Post #1361 and a lifetime member of the Hutchinson-Reno Masonic Lodge #124 A.F. & A.M. Lawrence retired from the Department of Labor in 1977 as a supervisor.
Survivors include: son, Larry Forney and wife Shelia of Hutchinson, Kan.; step-daughter, Dana Brown of South Hutchinson, Kan.; brother, Lewis Forney of Wichita, Kan.; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Beverly Munday; brother, Marvin Forney; and sister, Marjorie Davis.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, 2012, at Mennonite Friendship Communities Chapel, South Hutchinson, with Reverend Sara Davis-Blodgett presiding. Burial to follow at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson. Friends may call from noon to 9 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at Elliott Mortuary.
