Lawrence Richard Guthrie, 76, died Aug. 7, 2008, at Hutchinson Hospital.
He was born April 6, 1932, in Lewis, the son of Gilbert Wayne Sr. and Edith Ethel Evans Guthrie. A longtime resident of Hutchinson, moving from Larned, he was a machine tender at Republic Paper Board for 42 years.
On March 11, 1952, he married Joy B. Long in Larned. She died March 21, 2003.
Survivors include: sons, James E. and wife Cheryl, Diamond City, Ariz., and Lawrence Wayne and wife Toni, New Orleans; a daughter, Linda and husband Benjamin Caudillo, Hutchinson; a stepson, Lesley Willis and wife Mary Gould, Mulvane; two sisters, Joyce Elaine Hillman, Russell, and Gwendolyn Marie Bunyard, Rose Hill; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and two step-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Joy; a stepson, Charles Holder; three brothers, Gilbert Wayne Guthrie,Jr., Elbert Oren Guthrie and James Addison Guthrie.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2008, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastor Quintin Moore presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the American Heart Association, in care of the mortuary.
