Obituary

Lawrence G. "Larry" McClure, 84, died June 20, 2010, at his home in Hutchinson.

He was born July 13, 1925, in Marion County, Kansas to Benjamin Harrison and Maggie Julian Larsen McClure.

He served in the United States Army during World War II, stationed in Korea and the Philippines. He was a lifetime member of American Legion Post #440 and VFW Post 971, both in Newton. He worked in the street department for the City of Peabody for 27 years and was with the volunteer fire department in Peabody for 31 years.

He married Shirley Arlene McClave on March 13, 1948, in Newton. She died June 26, 2009.

Survivors include: son, Mike McClure and his wife Marcie McKinnell, Hutchinson; daughter, Chris Hughes and her husband Jack, Palmer, Alaska; brother, Glen McClure, Halstead; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 29, 2010, at Elliott Mortuary. Cremation has taken place. Inurnment will be at a later date in Prairie Lawn Cemetery, Peabody.

Memorials may be made to Reins of Hope or Hospice House in care of the mortuary.
