Obituary

Lawrence Melvin "Larry" Moffett, 84, died January 5, 2022, at his home in Hutchinson.

He was a kind, committed Christian who attended Bethany Church of the Nazarene in Hutchinson. Larry served honorably in both the Marine Corps and the Navy, received a Bronze Star for valor in Vietnam, and retired as a Chief Petty Officer.  He was also a long-time deputy for the Reno County Sheriff's Office, retiring as a Sergeant at the jail.   In addition, Larry served as overnight security for Hutchinson Regional Medical Center.

Larry was a member of FOP Lodge #18, American Legion Lysle Rishel Post #68, and Kansas Central Model Railroaders.

Larry leaves behind his loving wife of 48 years, Peggy; daughters, Pamela (Nick) Gosnell and Carol (Nathan) Church; and five grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, Roger and his wife, Mitzy.

Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 13, 2022, at Elliott Chapel, with Reverend J. R. Spellman officiating.  Burial will follow in Eastside Cemetery, Hutchinson, with military honors conducted by the United States Navy Honor Guard. Friends may sign the book from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 12, 2022, with the family present from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.  The casket will remain closed.
