Lawrence S. Sliker, 74, died August 18, 2012, at Hutchinson Hospital.
He was born September 25, 1937, in Rochester, New York, the son of Harold Garland and Marion (Caps) Sliker.
He graduated in 1955, from Monroe High School, Rochester, NY, attended Clarkson University, Plattsburgh, NY, and received his Bachelor of Science from State University of New York. He was a member of the Bahai Faith in Hutchinson.
Lawrence retired as an electrical and computer engineer at Clevite Corp. in Cleveland, Ohio, and then did consultation work for many places. He was also an inventor and held several patents, including a solar panel that was used in one of the first unmanned space flights in 1967. He came from a long line of inventors, his grandfather, Arthur C. Caps, who invented the photostat machine and held many patents.
On August 19, 1971, he married Nancy L. Queary in Welland, Ontario, Canada. She survives.
Other survivors include: three children, Lawrence Arthur William Sliker of Columbus, Ohio, Nancy Elizabeth Kamerer and husband Mike of Spanaway, Wash., and Tahirih Louise Gutelius and husband Warren of Cambridge, Ohio; a brother, Todd R. Sliker of Niwot, Colo.; six grandchildren, Lauren Elizabeth Kamerer, Jeanette Claire Sliker, Elizabeth Joy Sliker, Michelle Genevieve Kamerer, Joshua Devon Sliker, Jessica Leanne Sliker; and a great-grandson, Adin Ray Sliker-Harter. He was preceded by great-granddaughter, Alexis McKennsie Sliker-Harter.
A private graveside service will be held in Eastside Cemetery, Hutchinson. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
