Leah N. Currie, 75, died Sept. 3, 2012, at Thorne Care Center. She was born Sept. 12, 1936, in Garfield, Kan. to Merle and Doris (Bishop) Thompson.
She retired as Officer and Branch Manager for First National Bank after 32 years of loyal, loving service. Leah was a past member of Altrusa, a member of the former Hutchinson Women's Bowling Association, and a loyal fan of the HCC Blue Dragons.
On Feb. 27, 1955, she married Robert Lee Currie in Sterling. He died July 10, 2010.
Survivors include: a daughter, LeAnn Brower and husband Bruce of Hutchinson; a son, Robert Jr. and wife Stasi of Overland Park; two sisters, Twila Price, and Eva Huntsman and husband John all of Texas; two brothers, Phil Thompson and wife Pat of Arizona and Neil Thompson and wife Karen of Hutchinson; granddaughter, Maria Brower and her daughter, Isabella Brower; two grandsons, Matthew Brower, and Nathan Hamilton and his daughter, Alyssa Hamilton; numerous nieces and nephews, along with her Altrusa family and First National Bank family and many very close, lifelong friends. Leah was preceded in death by her parents; infant sister, RoseAnna Maurene Thompson; brother-in-law, Mark Price; and sister-in-law, Ardith Thompson.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, 2012, at CrossPoint Church, Westbrook Campus, with Pastor Josh Holmes officiating. Burial will be in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday, with the family to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Elliott Mortuary.
