Lela D. Coleman, 96, died Nov. 10, 2005, at Minnequa Medical Center, Pueblo, Colo.
She was born March 25, 1909, in Castleton, the daughter of Jared Hamilton and Sarah Elizabeth "Lizzie" Holdeman Benson. She graduated from Castleton High School and was valedictorian. A longtime Reno County resident, she was a homemaker.
She belonged to Castleton Union Church.
She married O.E. "Tiny" Clark. He died in 1966. She then married Elmer Sidney "Sid" Coleman. He died June 12, 1988.
Survivors include: two stepsons, Dave Coleman and wife, Penny, Golden, Colo., and Mike Coleman, Colorado; a daughter, Karen Lewis and husband Clay, Jr., Rye, Colo.; a stepdaughter, Juanita Jones, Blythe, La.; a grandson, Jason Lewis; and two great-grandchildren, Brittaney and Tanner Lewis.
She was preceded in death by a son, Bill Dean Clark; a brother, Schuyler Benson; two sisters, Sarah E. "Eva" Smith and Lela's twin, Leta Bell Clark; and a granddaughter, Deanna K. Wadkins.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Mennonite Manor Chapel, South Hutchinson, with the Rev. Ken Anderson and Pastor Robert E. Ulrich presiding. Friends may sign the register from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Continuing Care Fund, or the Lela Coleman Continuing Education Fund, both in care of Mennonite Manor, South Hutchinson.
