Obituary

SOUTH HUTCHINSON - Lela Marie Wainner, 100, died June 22, 2007, at Hutchinson Hospital.

She was born March 3, 1907, in Siloam Springs, Ark., the daughter of Jonathan Franklin and Julia Frances Arnold Henson. She graduated from Nickerson High School in 1925, attended Sterling College, and received her teaching certificate; she earned her LPN in 1960 in Carlsbad, N.M. She came to Nickerson in 1920, from Missouri, moving to Carlsbad, N.M., in 1950, and returning to Hutchinson in 1980. She was an elementary school teacher in Reno County, had a private kindergarten in Carlsbad, N.M., and was an LPN in Carlsbad, N.M.

She belonged to Cornerstone Baptist Church, and the Order of the Eastern Star, Carlsbad, N.M.

On March 9, 1928, she married Harry T. Wainner in Nickerson. He died June 2, 1984.

Survivors include: three sons, Gary, Carlsbad, N.M., James, Hutchinson, and Norman, Knoxville, Tenn.; a daughter, Anita Wainner, Hutchinson; special friends, Bob and June Winslow, and Geraldine Wise; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, David; three brothers; and three sisters.

Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Fairview Cemetery, with Pastor Larry Wedel presiding.
