Obituary

Leland W. "Lee" Marcotte, 80, died Dec. 14, 2006, at Hospice House.

He was born Dec. 14, 1926, in Aurora, the son of Narcisse Ambrose and Martha Mary Jette Marcotte. He graduated from Salt City Business College. A longtime Hutchinson resident, he was a miller for William Kelly Flour Mill for 25 years, and then retired from Carey Salt after 19 years.

He belonged to St. Teresa's Catholic Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1361, American Legion Lyle Rishel Post No. 68, Knights of Columbus, and the Loyal Order of the Moose No. 982. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, serving on the U.S.S. Suwannee from 1944 to 1946.

On June 24, 1947, he married Marie Arpin in Clyde. She survives.

Other survivors include: two sons, Dennis, and Myron, both of Hutchinson; a daughter, Tina Marcotte, South Hutchinson; a sister, Mollina Hamel, Lodi, Calif.; and five grandchildren, Adam and Ryan Marcotte, Chrissi, Carrie, and Cassie Leiker.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, and three sisters.

Rosary will be at 5 p.m. Sunday at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson. Funeral mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Teresa's Catholic Church, with Father Stuart M. Smeltzer presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today and Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, with military graveside rites conducted by the United States Naval Honor Guard.
