Leland B. Schwartz, 53, passed away March 19, 2009, after a long courageous battle with cancer. He was born Oct. 20, 1955, in Kingman, the son of Arthur and Veradine Voran Schwartz.

He was a 1973 graduate of Pretty Prairie High School. A longtime Hutchinson resident, he worked at Cargill Salt for 32 plus years. He attended the Westbrook Baptist Church in Hutchinson. Thank you for the blessing of caretaker Wanda Laflin for the past 6 months.

On June 24, 1994 he married Linda K. Kretzer. She survives. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Other survivors include: a son, Aaron Schwartz, Hillsboro; two stepsons, Bryan Isley and wife Tiffany and Brad Isley and wife Misty, all of Hutchinson; brother, Dallas Schwartz and wife Joleen, Hutchinson; two sisters, Rachel Tracy and husband Glenn, Bella Vista, Ark., and Pat Henning and husband Cliff, Shawnee; two brothers-in-law, Mike Kretzer and wife Mary Jane, Derby, and Gary Kretzer and wife Rhonda, Hutchinson; grandson, Jacob Schwartz, Hillsboro; five step-grandchildren, Trystan, Tryniti and Brogan Isley and Bryce and Breckyn Isley, all of Hutchinson; numerous nieces and nephews; and other extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

A celebration of life will be 10 a.m. Monday at Westbrook Baptist Church with Pastor Andy Addis and Chaplain Art Maddock officiating. Friends may call from 1 to 9 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. Sunday with the family present from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday at Elliott Mortuary. Burial will be in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum.
