Obituary

Leon A. "Cotton" Daines, 79, died April 21, 2008, at his residence. He was born on March 13, 1929, at Springdale, Ark., the son of Fred Otis and Addie Walden Daines. He attended Salt City Business College in Hutchinson. He was a truck driver for Borton Inc. for 35 years. He was a Hutchinson resident. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

On Sept. 25, 1949, he married Kathleen Mae Reed in Hutchinson. She survives.

Other survivors include: sons, Jack Daines and wife Sue, Tom Daines and wife Patty, all from Hutchinson, Bob Daines and wife Ramona, Mankato; daughters, Patty Bruce and husband J.B. of Burrton, Linda Ramsey and husband Brad of Omaha, Neb.; sisters, Mickey Stout, Nancy Satterwhite, Linda Lancaster, all of Hutchinson; 13 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by: parents; daughter, Jeanette Daines; grandson, Tracy Daines; brothers, John Daines, Fred Daines, Tom Daines; sisters, Isabella Gohen, Jean Renken, Mary England, Bonnie Davis, Shirley Wilson, Jackie Daines, and Donna Faye Daines.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Fairlawn Burial Park, with Chaplain Art Maddock presiding and with military honors by Fort Riley Honor Guard. Friends may call form 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, with the family present from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
