Leonard W." Butch" Lebien Jr., 65, died Oct. 27, 2014, at the Ralph Thorne Care Center in Hutchinson. Butch was born on May 27, 1949, in Hutchinson to Leonard W. Lebien Sr. and Roberta Rathbun Lebien.
Butch graduated from Hutchinson High School Class of 1967. He joined the Army National Guard in November of 1969 and served six years. While attending Hutchinson Community Junior College, he began a 30-year career with Peel's Beauty Supply Company. He later became an owner of a State Beauty Supply Company in Wichita. Throughout the years in the beauty supply business he appreciated the friendships with customers and coworkers who became his second family. Butch enjoyed life; he loved the game of golf, especially tournaments and was proud to say he was a "Club Champion" at Prairie Dunes Country Club. He loved watching sports on TV, fishing and hunting.
He is survived by his daughter, Leslie Lebien; mother, Roberta Lebien; and a brother, Mike Lebien.
Friends of Butch and his family are invited to the home of Shirley Lebien at 7 Lake Terrace, Hutchinson, Kan., on Saturday, Nov. 1 from 1 to 4 p.m. for a remembrance celebration in Butch's honor. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday through Friday at Elliott Mortuary.
