Leroy Walter Helm, 87, died June 26, 2016, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. He was born Jan. 1, 1929, in Penalosa, to Lloyd Walter and Cleo Alice (Wright) Helm.
He graduated from Sylvia High School in 1947, was a member of South Hutchinson United Methodist Church, the owner/operator of Golden Grain Transport and a custom harvester for over 28 years.
On Nov. 16, 1952, Leroy married Dorothy Lee Branscom in Turon. She survives. Other survivors include: children, Lex Helm and wife April of Nashville, Tenn., Sherry McManus of Lake Tahoe, Nev., Todd Helm and wife Odette of Seneca; sister, Patsy Fors and husband Dick of Arlington; grandchildren, Charity Haga and husband Matt, Lexi Dickerson and husband Chad, Justin McManus, Sarah Hiltgen and husband Hadden, Jesse Helm, Luke Helm; great-grandchildren, Cole and Riggs Haga, Piper, Landry and baby Hiltgen, Allie Cornelius. He was preceded in death by: his parents; stepmother, Wilma Helm; brother, Dennis Helm; stepbrother, Arthur Clothier; and grandson, Carter Helm.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Thursday, June 30, 2016, at South Hutchinson United Methodist Church, with the Reverend Ronnie Dykes presiding. Burial will follow in Lerado Cemetery. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. with the family to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
