Leslie Charles Cavanaugh, 97, died Jan. 11, 2009, at Hester Care Center, Hutchinson.
He was born Jan. 4, 1912, on a farm near Covington, Okla., the son of Charles and Norma Moorman Cavanaugh.
He was a 1930 graduate of Venita, Oklahoma High School. A resident of Hutchinson since 1942, he was a homebuilder in Hutchinson for 40 years. He retired in 1974. After retirement, he built custom gliders, porch swings and children's rockers.
He belonged to First United Methodist Church, Hutchinson.
On June 26, 1937, he married Velda E. Luman in Hutchinson. She died Nov. 27, 2006.
Survivors include: two sons, Donald and Tom and his wife, Sue, all of Hutchinson; a daughter, Lori Menhusen and husband, Phil, Mankato; a sister, Edna Brock, Bishop, Calif.; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Dallas and Carl; three brothers, Orell, Clayton and Ted; and three sisters, Julia Shuff, Alta Johnson and Catherine Graber.
Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson, with the Rev. Mark Conard presiding. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson.
