NEWTON - Lila Kay Hodges, 64, died April 6, 2011, at Kansas Heart Hospital, Wichita, from complications from a stroke.
She was born July 24, 1946, the daughter of Dan Gadberry and Eva B. Darrah.
A resident of Newton, she had formerly lived in Haven, Lyons and Sterling. Lila was a homemaker and a member of the Crosspoint Church. On Dec. 29, 1962, she married Donald R. Hodges in Hutchinson. He died March 6, 2005.
Survivors include: two daughters, Angela Wittman and husband Rex of Newton and Sherry Earle and husband David of Sterling; two brothers, Larry Gadberry of Ft. Worth, Texas and Roger Gadberry of Larned, Kan.; three sisters, Linda Pitts of Lyons, Kan., Darla Vanmeter of Hutchinson, and Paula Small of Lyons, Kan.; and seven grandchildren, Ashley Brandes and husband Paul of Gurnee, ILL., Jonathan Earle of Sterling, Kan., Tyson and Taylor Goldsmith both of Newton, Austin Earle of Sterling, and Carson and Carlie Wittman both of Newton. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two brothers, Jim and Randy Gadberry.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 11, 2011, at Crosspoint Church Westbrook Campus, 2005 N. Hendricks, Hutchinson, with Pastor Andy Addis presiding. Burial will follow at Peace Creek Cemetery. Friends may call 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday with family to receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Elliott Mortuary Chapel.
