Obituary

Lillian W. Benjamin, 89, died Jan. 9, 2008, at Hutchinson Hospital.

She was born April 3, 1918, in Inman, the daughter of Cornelius and Anna Schmidt Willems. She and her husband owned a dairy farm for 30 years; later she had worked for both Virginia's and Wiley's clothing stores.

She belonged to First Congregational Church, Hutchinson.

On Dec. 18, 1941, she married Carleton Benjamin, in Wichita. He died July 25, 1994.

Survivors include: two daughters, Suzanne Taff, Towson, Md., and Kate Kleiber, St. Peters, Mo.; two sisters, Martha Fernow, Albuquerque, N.M., Vi Downing, Hutchinson; seven grandchildren, Jennifer and Joshua Taff, Carli and Morgan Brosseau, and Megan, Molly and Benjamin Kleiber.

She was preceded in death by two daughters, Sally Train and Sheri Brosseau; a brother, Arnie Willems; two sisters, Agnes Willems and Mary Mitchell; and a grandchild, Ali Brosseau.

Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Congregational Church, with Pastor Matt Stafford presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday, with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Cremation has taken place. A private family burial is planned.
