Lillian M. Peterson-Murphy, 91, died Sept. 29, 2005, at her home.
She was born Dec. 1, 1913, in St. Louis, Mo., the daughter of Peter and Anna Hope Peterson. She graduated from Hutchinson High School, attended Hutchinson Junior College and graduated from McPherson College. A longtime resident of Hutchinson, she taught school in Stafford and worked at the Pentagon for Civil Service during World War II and the Harris News Group, retiring in 1983.
She belonged to Community Church of the Brethren.
On Nov. 16, 1985, she married Jack E. Murphy at Hutchinson. He died Feb. 10, 1989.
Survivors include: two stepsons, Dean Murphy, Seattle, and Gary Murphy, Manhattan; and two step grandchildren; and weveral cousins.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, Hutchinson, with Ed Switzer presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at the funeral home, the casket will remain closed. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park.
