Obituary

SOUTH HUTCHINSON - Lillian Edna Alfaro Torrez, 79, died March 16, 2006, at Mennonite Manor.

She was born Feb. 2, 1927, in Hutchinson, the daughter of Pablo Jose and Maria Briseno Alfaro. A lifetime area resident, she graduated from Hutch-inson High School in 1945 and was a graduate of Salt City Business College. She was a former secretary for DBQ Oil Co.

She belonged to Southwest Baptist Church and was a member of American Baptist Women Circle, Harvest Home, Friendship Meals and Friends Club and Church Women United.

On Aug. 1, 1992, she married Tony L. Torrez in South Hutchinson. He died Oct. 27, 2002.

She is survived by a sister, Connie Kirkpatrick, Santa Maria, Calif. She was the beloved "Aunt Lillian" to numerous nephews and nieces and will be remembered by an extensive circle of friends.

She was preceded in death by four brothers, Ramon, Chencho, Edward and Daniel; and a sister, Lucille Flores.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, with Pastor Jim Autrey presiding. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park.

Memorials may be sent to Mennonite Manor, Hospice Care of Kansas, or to Southwest Baptist Church, all in care of the mortuary.
