ARLINGTON - Lillie M. Forwalder, 88, died July 31, 2006, at Hutchinson Hospital, Hutchinson.
She was born Dec. 15, 1917, in Stafford, the daughter of Arthur and Mabel Forbes Smiley. She was a graduate of Stafford High School. A longtime resident of Arlington, formerly of Stafford, Partridge and Des Moines, Iowa, she was a homemaker.
She attended Arlington Presbyterian Church and was a member of Stafford Baptist Church and Arlington Senior Center. She was a former volunteer for the Arlington Library and Partridge Rebekah Lodge.
On July 16, 1938, she married Chester C. "Chet" Forwalder in Stafford. He died July 30, 1977.
Survivors include: a son, Mel and wife, Beverly, Akron, Ohio; two daughters, Barbara German and husband, Dick, Arlington, and Carol Forwalder, Binghamton, N.Y.; a brother, Warren Smiley and wife, Joann, Monroe, La.; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and two sisters-in-law, Gladys and Jean Smiley.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Hugh and Lloyd Smiley.
Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson, with the Rev. Tom Robson presiding. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. The casket will remain closed. The family will receive friends following the service at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Arlington Presbyterian Church. Lunch will be served, and the church is handicap accessible.
