Lilly Mae Jones, 90, died Aug. 1, 2008, at Pleasant View Home, Inman.
She was born May 23, 1918, in Marquette, the daughter of Walter and Sylvia Fanatia Young.
Mae married Elvin Jones in November 1948. He died in 1977. Mae spent most of her adult life in the McPherson and Hutchinson areas.
As a young girl she was employed as a cook at the White Swan Café in McPherson, she also worked several years at Cessna as a cook. During the years she was married to Jonesy they traveled and lived in several states following the oil boom. After his death she dedicated most of her time babysitting for families and developing many lasting friendships with them. She loved to visit and was always ready to help someone in need.
She was a member of the First Methodist Church in McPherson.
Survivors include: a son, Dick Cook and wife Vicki, Hutchinson; two grandsons, Randy Cook and wife Julie, Andale, and Darran Cook and wife Susan, Hutchinson; five great-grandchildren, Hayden, Harrison, Sydney, Jake and Amanda; and one great-great-granddaughter, Emmarie.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Rosalie Daly and Irene Martin, and a brother, Blake Young.
Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 4, 2008, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Cremation has taken place.
