Linda Mae Chapin, 73, passed away April 7, 2021, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita. She was born March 22, 1948, in Belleville, Kansas, to Vernest and Velda (Sellars) Kaufmann.

Linda grew up in Mahaska, Kansas, and graduated from Mahaska High School in 1966. She graduated from Kansas State University in 1970, and began her high school teaching career in Washington, Kansas.  Linda later received a Master's Degree in Speech Language Pathology from Fort Hays State University.  She worked as a Speech Language Pathologist for Hutchinson Public Schools for 29 years, retiring in 2007. Linda loved working with students of all ages, traveling, and watching Kansas State sports.  During her retirement years, she enjoyed reading and wintering in Arizona with her husband, Mike. Above all, she loved spending time with family and friends.

On July 29, 1972, Linda married Mike Chapin, in Washington, KS.  From this union, they had two sons.

Linda is survived by:  her husband of almost 49 years, Mike, of Hutchinson; two sons, Cory Chapin of Washington, KS, and Jeff Chapin and wife Svetlana of Overland Park; four siblings, Lyle Kaufmann of Wichita, Myrna Kaufmann Scott of Salina, Doyle Kaufmann of San Jose, CA,  and Merle Kaufmann of Topeka.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Verle Kaufmann.

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 13, 2021, at Elliott Chapel, with Pastor Craig Waetke officiating. Graveside service will follow at 3:00 p.m. in Washington City Cemetery, Washington, KS, with Pastor Jill Duis officiating.  Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, with the family present from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.
