Dr. Linda Erickson, 83, of Hutchinson, passed away July 18, 2025, at Meadowlark Adult Care Center, Mt Hope, Kansas. She was born October 26, 1941, in Kansas City, Missouri, to George and Tena Wetzel.

Linda graduated from Hutchinson High School and received her bachelor's degree from Kansas State University. She earned her Doctorate Degree of Philosophy, with honors, from The University of Pennsylvania. After earning her Doctorate, she taught philosophy at DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois. She assisted in several research projects when she returned to Kansas State University, continuing to expand her academic achievements.

During Linda's varied academic life, she became friends with various educational co-workers around the world. She kept in close touch through the years with many of these friends.

She belonged to Emanuel Lutheran Church, where Linda attended as a child and rejoined when returning to Hutchinson.

Linda is survived by: her sister-in-law, Maribell Wetzel of Hutchinson, nephew Reed Wetzel, Wichita, and great nieces, Isla and Amity Wetzel of Wichita.

She was preceded by her parents, George and Tena Wetzel and brother, Keith Wetzel.

Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, July 24, 2025, at Elliott Mortuary with Pastor Lisa Simmelink. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Burial Park. Friends may call Wednesday, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.
