Linda Mae Shipley, 77, of Hutchinson, died October 31, 20217, at Diversicare of Hutchinson. She was born January 31, 1940, in Oklahoma City, OK, to the Reverend Peter E. and Esther M. (Voth) Frantz. Linda graduated from Newton High School and Hutchinson Community College.
She served two years in the United States Marines from 1958 to 1959.

On March 5, 1960, she married Clifford Shipley in North Newton, KS. They had two sons, Kenneth and Mark. Cliff and Linda were married for 57 years.

Linda held several jobs in her youth at businesses from publishing to canning pickles. But after she was hired at the Hutch News as a film technician and backup photographer, she stayed for 30 years until her retirement. Linda enjoyed gardening and maintained an extensive flower garden. She loved sports cars and owned several over the years. She was an avid bowler and bowled for many years with the Friday Twisters. She also loved to travel and was always ready for an opportunity to go someplace. For many years she and Cliff made an annual trip to Florida, where she loved to spend time on the beach. Church was important to Linda. When they met, she told Cliff that she wouldn't marry him unless he would go to church. So he joined First Mennonite Church in Hutchinson, where they have been members ever since.
