Bontrager
December 24, 1931 – January 30, 2022
Linford A. Bontrager, 90, of Hutchinson, died January 30, 2022. He was born December 24, 1931, in Reno County, to William and Martha (Yoder) Bontrager.
Linford was a longtime member of Journey Mennonite Church, South Hutchinson. He attended Buckeye Grade School, Partridge High School, and graduated from Hesston High School in 1950. Linford was a truck driver all his life, retiring from Coleman / Evcon, in Wichita. His first transportation was a Cushman Motor Scooter, he loved motorcycles and fast cars. Linford belonged to the Salt City Cruiser Car Club, having owned several antique cars.
In 1954, he married Shirley Cline. They shared 67 years together. She survives.
Other survivors include: son, Ron (Kathy) Bontrager; daughter, Fay (Gary) Headings; brother, David Bontrager; sister, Alice Flewelling; four grandchildren, Brandy Estrella, Tory Garcia, Josh Vernon, Jessica Brawner; nine great-grandchildren, Jacob, Tyler, Trenton, Croix, Brett, Hannah, Zoe, Sage, Sawyer; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Linford was preceded in death by: his parents; brothers, Alvin, Bill, Howard, and Morris; and sister, Laura Schrock.
A celebration of life will be 11 am Saturday, June 11, 2022, Journey Mennonite Church. A private family burial has taken place in Fairlawn Burial Park.
Memorials are suggested to Central Christian School to benefit the Dyslexia Program, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
