Obituary

Lloyd Duane Keller, 92, died Sept. 29, 2012, at Hospice House, Hutchinson. He was born March 27, 1920, in rural Haven, Kan., the son of Tommy Day and Jessie Belle Ray Keller.

He graduated from Burrton High School and Salt City Business College. Lloyd served with the Coast Guard from 1942 to 1944, as a lighthouse keeper in Pensacola, Fla., during WWII. He worked as an engineer for Panhandle Eastern Pipeline, and later had many businesses including, Keller Bus Service, L & M Paper Service and Snoball Concessions. Lloyd was a longtime member of the Corner Stone Baptist Church and a member of the American Legion Lysle Rischel Post #68.

On April 18, 1942, he married Leona M. Lies in Pensacola, Fla. She died Aug. 1, 2003. He then married Dorothy Lee Keller on Dec. 31, 2004, in Hutchinson. She died Nov. 8, 2010. Survivors include: three daughters, Marilee Mayes and husband George of Hutchinson, Vickie Ragland and husband Roger of Newcastle, Okla.; Evelyn Shultz and husband Ray of Randolph, Kan.; stepdaughter, Inaglee Lambert and husband Larry of Baton Rouge, La.; 11 grandchildren, Clarissa Turner (Troy), Vance Mayes (Katina), Ross Mayes (Amber), all of Hutchinson; John Ragland (Brandi) of Haysville, Kan.; Timothy Ragland and Jacob Ragland of Newcastle, Okla.; Alexander Shultz of Marysville, Kan.; Brian Shultz (Melissa) of St. George, Kan.; Joshua Shultz (Annie) of Wamego, Kan.; Kimberly Ann Patton (Ronnie) of Hayes, La.; and James Evens Scott of Baton Rouge, La.; and 40 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by: a grandson, Jackson Ragland; a brother, Ferril Keller; and five sisters, Goldie May, Okla Hanson, Thelma Denney, Mildred Romine and Wanda Crawford.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012, at the Corner Stone Baptist Church, 1028 E 16th, Hutchinson, with Pastor Larry Wedel presiding. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday with family to receive friends from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Elliott Mortuary. Memorials may be made to the Corner Stone Baptist Church in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
