Lois Perrin, 84, died April 20, 2006, at Hester Care Center.
She was born Sept. 10, 1921, in rural Partridge, the daughter of Harry and Esther Smith Hamilton. She graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1939, attended Hutchinson Junior College and graduated from the University of Iowa. A lifetime Hutchinson and Reno County resident, her family moved to Hutchinson from Partridge when she was six years old, she was a homemaker and a former substitute teacher in the Hutchinson public school system.
She belonged to First United Methodist Church. She served on a great number of boards and leadership positions at her church, a charter board member of the Hutchinson High School Alumni Association, served on the Wesley Towers board of directors, served on the USD No. 308 Board of Education, past president of the Kansas State Board of Parent Teacher Association, volunteered with the Boy and Girl Scouts, was past president of the Wheatbelt Girl Scouts Council, member and past president of the Kansas Dental Association Auxiliary and member of PEO and D.A.R.
On June 6, 1943, she married Dr. Wayne J. Perrin in Hutchinson. He died Aug. 20, 2002.
Survivors include: two sons, David and wife, Ann, Tahlequah, Okla., and Dennis and wife, Linda, Hutchinson; a daughter, Debbie Neal and husband, Tom, Nederland, Colo.; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church, with Pastor Mark Conard and Tom Neal presiding. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Burial will be in Penwell-Gabel's Memorial Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Good Samaritan Fund at Wesley Towers, or to the Hutchinson High School Alumni Association, both in care of the funeral home.
