Lois Marie Rush, 83, died October 15, 2022, at Fountainview Nursing Home in Rosehill. She was born October 9, 1939, in Hutchinson, to Lewis and Wilma (Bornholdt) Smyres.

Lois graduated from Inman High School in 1958, and went on to attend Adela Hale Business School. After many years, she retired from the maintenance department at Hutchinson Community College in 1996. Lois enjoyed crafts of all kinds. She loved to be outside to enjoy flowers and bird watching and spent as much time as she could in her garden. Lois could often be found in the bleachers attending her grandson, Dustin's sporting events and other activities as he grew up.

On August 15, 1959, Lois married Jimmy Dean "J.D." Rush, in Inman. They shared 45 years of marriage before his passing on November 24, 2004.

She is survived by: son, Howard Rush (Sandy), Hutchinson; grandson, Dustin Rush (Jessica), Wichita; and sister, Doris Bruce, Hutchinson.

Lois was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, J.D. Rush; and oldest son, Jeff Rush.

Funeral service will be 2 pm Thursday October 20, 2022, at Elliott Mortuary. Burial will follow in the North Inman Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 1 to 2 pm prior to the service at the funeral home. Friends may call from 9 am to 8 pm Wednesday at Elliott Mortuary.
