Thayer

Lois Faye Thayer, 83, died September 3, 2019, at Reflection Living, Hutchinson. She was born March 8, 1936, in Vinita, OK, the daughter of Ralph W. and Rose M. (Bunch) Walters. Lois graduated from Arlington High School in 1954 and worked as a secretary for Eastwood Church of Christ. She loved people and was a wonderful hostess with a great sense of humor. Above all, Lois desired to set a Christ-like example in all she did. She loved sharing Christ with people and started and led many Bible study groups.
In April 1956, Lois married Dirk W. Slavenburg of the Hague, Netherlands, in Arlington. Together they raised four children.
She is survived by: daughters, Rayne Dean (Terry) and Ruby Slavenburg, both of Hutchinson; son, Dirk W. Slavenburg II (Sharon), Des Moines, IA; grandchildren, Jeremy Dean (Beth), Wright City, MO, Jennifer L. Mace, Hutchinson; great-grandchildren, Logan, Austin, Kylan, Ryker, Eliana, Holland; sisters, Ruby Ducate, Lawrence, Bernadean 'Bunny' Egbert (Eddy), Kimberling City, MO, Sarah Smith (Dan), Hutchinson; brother, Ray Walters (Sandy), Independence, MO; family-of-the-heart, Annette Raya, Hutchinson, Jarod, Rachel, Julen, and Noah Wannamaker, Hutchinson, Judy Henry (Hank), Hutchinson, Trudy Zimmerman (Bill), Nickerson, Cathy Schmitt (Gary), Wichita; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents and son, Jeffrey Gene Slavenburg.
Cremation has taken place. Celebration of Life will be 10 a.m. Friday, September 6, 2019, at Eastwood Church of Christ, 2500 N. Plum, with Wayne DeWindt and Steve Sears officiating. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday at Elliott Mortuary.
