Lon Steven Kasowski

Lon Steven Kasowski, 81, of Hutchinson, passed away in his sleep on September 1, 2026, at Diversicare of Hutchinson. He was born April 4, 1945, in Castleton, North Dakota, to Jospeh and Veronica (Moos) Kasowski.

Today, Lon is remembered with gratitude and appreciation for the life he lived. His passing invites those who knew him to speak his name with warmth and to celebrate the lasting place he holds in their memories. A proud Army veteran, Lon valued his service to his country, and that commitment remains an important part of his story.

On May 23, 1995, he married Virna Summers in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. They met later in life and had their first child when Lon was 50 years old. Lon and Virna shared 31 years of marriage together before his death.

Lon worked as a heavy equipment operator for Pegasus Gold Corporation. He was an immaculate gardener, growing all sorts of fruits and vegetables for his family and friends. Above all else, Lon loved his family. He was boundlessly generous with his time and love. No matter what, Lon would always put his family before himself.

Lon is survived by: beloved wife, Virna Kasowski of Park City; their children, Shelby Kasowski of Cape Canaveral, FL, and John Kasowski of Helena, MT; step-daughter, Jessica Nelson of Park City; grandchildren, Myles Kasowski and Destin Snider; siblings, Gary Kasowski of Cle Elum, WA, Maureen Kasowski of West Fargo, ND, and Joette (Duane) Luther of Alice, ND.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; sisters, Diane Askew, Mary Ford, and Lynne Finer; brother, Phillip Kasowski.

Cremation has taken place.

Memorial service will be 1 p.m., Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, with Deacon Todd Ray officiating. Military Honors will be conducted by the Fort Riley Honor Guard with the assistance of Lon's grandson, United States Marine, Destin Snider. Friends may sign his book at Elliott Mortuary 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. Sunday, until service time.

Family requests that flowers be sent to the Mortuary for Lon's service. 

As family and friends reflect on Lon’s life, they honor a man whose journey included service, family, and a peaceful farewell. His name is spoken today with gratitude, and his life is remembered as one worthy of celebration.
