Obituary

Lona Alice Edwards, 82, died, Sept. 22, 2005, at Good Samaritan Center, Hutchinson.

She was born Jan. 11, 1923, in Arlington, the daughter of Charles Harvey and Edna Sartain Voss. She graduated from Mullinville High School and was a 1945 graduate of St. Elizabeth's School of Nursing. She was a registered nurse working in Florida and California before moving to Hutchinson. She worked for the former Broadacres and Hutchinson Hospital, retiring in 1993, after 40 total years of service.

She belonged to South Hutchinson Christian Church and Order of Eastern Star, Silver Leaf Chapter No. 464.

On Dec. 24, 1951, she married Glen "Bus" Edwards at Arlington. He died May 22, 1968.

Survivors include: a son, Glen Bradford, and wife, Carolyn, Wichita; a daughter, Kathy Edwards, Hutchinson; two sisters, Ada Francis Whitney, McKinleyville, Calif., and Bessie Lou Colvard, Hutchinson; and a granddaughter, Sarah Kelly and husband, Patrick, Wichita.

She was preceded in death by an infant brother, Cameron, and an infant sister, Helen.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastor Brian Barrie presiding. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. until service time Saturday at the mortuary. The family will greet friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at the mortuary. There will be Order of Eastern Star rites by Silver Leaf Chapter No. 464, following the funeral. Burial will be in Arlington Cemetery.
