Lona M. Wight, 94, died July 12, 2007, at Hospice House.

She was born Nov. 23, 1912, in Offerle, the daughter of August W. and Lucy J. Boehme Rehmert. She graduated from Oelrichs High School in 1932, Oelrichs, South Dakota, and attended Chadron Normal School for a year, Chadron, Neb., to get her teaching certificate. A resident of Hutchinson, she was the food service director at Wesley Towers and was previously the head cook at South Hutchinson Elementary School.

She attended South Hutchinson United Methodist Church, was active in the Sunshine Circle at the church, was a longtime member of the elections board, serving as clerk, a member of Shepherd Center Bingo, enjoyed playing Bunco, and served as the church hostess at the First Presbyterian Church and the South Hutchinson United Methodist Church.

On Jan. 28, 1934, she married John C. Wight in Hot Springs, S.D. He died Aug. 25, 1961.

Survivors include: four daughters, Evelyn R. Rose and husband, Don, Lila M. Link and her late husband, Gail, and Judy K. Snyder and her husband, Bob, all of South Hutchinson, and Linda L. Rose and her husband, M.L. "Bud," Laurel, Mont.; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-granddaughters.

She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, three great-grandsons; and a son-in-law, Gail Link.

Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at South Hutchinson United Methodist Church, with Pastor Tim Ault-Duell presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson, with the family present from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday in Evergreen Cemetery, Offerle.
