Lorene Waldschmidt, 79, died Jan. 22, 2007, at Hospice House, Hutchinson.
She was born Feb. 11, 1927, in Anthony, the daughter of Laurans A. and Beulah A. Heath Van Ranken. In 1945, she graduated from Anthony High School. A longtime Hutchinson resident, she had worked at the Reno County Courthouse for 36 years, retiring in 1992 as the Reno County District Court Clerk.
She belonged to First Baptist Church, where she served as past president of her Sunday school class and the Ladies Church Circle. She was also the past president of the Women's Civic Center.
On Nov. 24, 1945, she married Robert H. Waldschmidt in Anthony. He died Nov. 17, 2003.
Survivors include: a daughter, Linda Philbrick and husband Bob, Edmond, Okla.; a daughter-in-law, Karen A. Waldschmidt, Bedford, Texas; four grandchildren, Robin Landers and husband Milt, Broken Arrow, Okla., Mark Philbrick and wife Mary Anne, Wichita, and Jonathan Waldschmidt and Jennifer Waldschmidt, both of Bedford, Texas; and two great-grandchildren, Cherish and Phoenix Philbrick, Wichita.
She was preceded in death by a son, John L. Waldschmidt; five brothers, Horace, Richard and Earl; and two infant brothers.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson, with Pastors Jim Autry and Gerald Salmans officiating. Visitation is from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday in Forest Park Cemetery, Anthony.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the church or Hospice House Garden Project in care of the funeral home.
