Loretta Elizabeth Schmidt, 96, died Friday, August 25, 2017, at Sunshine Meadows Retirement Community, Buhler. She was born May 22, 1921, in Hanover, to Joseph and Rose (Siebenhaur) Kramer.
Loretta was of the Catholic faith. She was a self-employed seamstress.
On January 29, 1942, she married Frederick William Koch in Hanover. He died in 1965. She later married Irvin Schmidt. He died in 1997.
Survivors include: son, Larry Koch (Mary) of Grove, Oklahoma; daughters, Judy Hidde (Jerry) of Hutchinson, Tammy Andrews (Clint) of Liberal; stepdaughter, Vernita Spreier of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; stepson, Dean Schmidt (Earlene) of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Kelly Zang (Chuck), Leslie Cutter (Tom), Mary Beth West (Darin), Jeff Fowler (Johana), Stephanie Brock (Mark), David Koch (Shaula), Michelle Snyder (Kurt), Missy Moore (Jeff), Joe Koch (Michelle); 12 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and nine step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; husbands, Frederick and Irvin; son, Ron Koch; stepson, Don Schmidt; brother, Walter Kramer; and sister, Marcella Koppes.
Rosary will be 7 p.m. Tuesday, August 29, 2017, at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson, with Larry Koch officiating. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 30, 2017, at St. Teresa's Catholic Church, 211 E. 5th, Hutchinson, with Father Michael J. Maybrier officiating. Burial will be 11 a.m. Thursday, August 31, 2017, at St. John's Catholic Cemetery, Hanover, Kansas, with Father Joseph Kieffer officiating. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at Elliott Mortuary.
