Obituary

NMAN - Lou R. Rhodes, 100, died Jan. 26, 2006, at Mercy Hospital, Moundridge.

She was born Jan. 7, 1906, in Indian Territory, now Roland, Okla., the daughter of John Wesley and Sarah Deliah Duggins Clark. A resident of Hutchinson since 1963, moving from the Inman and Windom areas, she was a homemaker.

She belonged to First Baptist Church, Hutchinson, Order of the Eastern Star Silver Leaf Chapter No. 464, was a 60-year member and served as Past Worthy Matron, the Ladies Circle at the church and the Red Hat Society.

On May 5, 1924, she married Burton Rhodes in Pawhuska, Okla. He died Jan. 5, 1990.

Survivors include: three daughters, Geneva Ruth Wittorff and Martha Jo Abel, both of Inman, and Anna Lou Ellis, Hutchinson; a brother, Arthur Clark, Cottage Grove, Ore.; three sisters, Doshia Hoopes, Bartlesville, Okla., Lucy Copeland, San Juan Capistrano, Calif., and Emma Bradshaw, Sacramento, Calif.; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; a stepgreat-grandchild; and several stepgreat-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Tommy, Sike and Troy Clark; a sister, Bessie Powell; and a grandson, Daniel Paul Hofer.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastors Jim Autrey and Dan Dalke presiding. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Saturday, and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Penwell-Gabel's Memorial Park Cemetery.
