Obituary

Louis H. 'Bud' Henderson, 99, of Hutchinson, died June 2, 2019, at Diversicare, Hutchinson. He was born February 25, 1920, in Hutchinson, the son of Acie C. and Leathel E. (Talley) Henderson.

Bud graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1937 and then served in the United States Army from 1941 to 1945. He served three years as a sergeant and two years in the European theater. Bud graduated from two technical schools, one under the G.I. bill at Lubbock, TX, and American Technical at Chicago, IL. He worked at Luminous Neon and then had his own business, Bud's Neon, altogether for 24 years. After eight years at Master Machine, he retired in 1982.

Bud was a member of First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Men, Double Circle Sunday school class, life member of both the American Legion Lysle Rishel Post #68 and V.F.W. Bob Campbell Post #1361. He liked to bowl, fish, and hunt.

On June 7, 1945, Bud married Louise C. Danford in Las Vegas, NV. She died January 14, 2013. Surviving are: sons, Louis Henderson, Jr., Huntington Beach, CA, Michael Henderson (Ranea), Hutchinson, Timothy Henderson (Beth), South Hutchinson; daughter, Patricia Miller, Hutchinson; grandchildren, Kimberly Henderson Smith, Huntington Beach, CA, Amy Henderson, Fort Smith, AR, Meghann Henderson, South Hutchinson, Shawn Fitzgerald (Randi), Boynton Beach, FL; step-grandsons, Ryan and Brett Corkins, Hutchinson; brother, Don Henderson (Barbara), Hutchinson; seven great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by: his parents, sisters, Velma Becker, Maxine Janzen, and Edith Mae Schmidt.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, June 6, 2019, at Memorial Park Cemetery, 5905 W. 4th Ave., Hutchinson, with military honors conducted by Fort Riley Honor Guard. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Elliott Mortuary.
