BURRTON - Louise K. "Babe" Hefling, 94, died Nov. 8, 2009, at Thorne Care Center, Hutchinson.
She was born Sept. 24, 1915, in Hutchinson, Reno County, the daughter of James J. and Ida Elnora Bogner Rice.
She was a 1933 graduate of Hutchinson High School. A lifetime resident of Reno County, she was a homemaker.
She belonged to St. Teresa's Catholic Church, Hutchinson. Her hobbies were woodcarving, painting and collecting antiques.
On May 1, 1942, she married Ronald J. Hefling in Hutchinson. He died Nov. 22, 1976.
Survivors include: son, Jim and wife Carol, New Brighton, Minn.; daughters, Gretchen Kopp and husband Francis, Havensville, Toni Tyson, Lawrence, and Robin Steinbrink, Madison; 15 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother; and two sisters.
Parish Rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 13, 2009, at St. Teresa's Catholic Church, Hutchinson. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at the church, with Father Nicholas Voekler presiding. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary. Burial will be in Valley Township Cemetery, near Haven.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wesley Towers Activity Fund, Delos V. Smith Senior Center, Terry C. Johnson Center for Basic Caner Research or Catholic Relief Services, all in care of the mortuary.
