Obituary

RESTON, Virginia - Louise Murine Barnett, passed away March 15, 2007, at Reston Hospital, Reston, Virginia. Louise was born Aug. 18, 1917, in Arlington, Kansas, the daughter of Charles and Anna Blodgett-Delventhal. She married Ralph Barnett April 3, 1935, in Hutchinson, Kansas. He died March 6, 1997.

Louise is survived by daughter, Norma Barnett, Reston, Virginia; daughter, Phyllis Gable and husband, John, Lansing, Kansas; granddaughter, Rhonda Gable-Underwood and husband, Keith, and their daughters, Dena and Abigail Murine; grandson, Tony Gable and his children, Charles and Ashely, fianceé of Tony, Angela Demencious, and her children, Kyle and Hannah; son, Ronnie Barnett of Front Royal, Virginia; granddaughter, Jennifer Barnett-Luther and husband Richard, and their daughter, Jessica; granddaughter, Heather Barnett-Pyles and husband, Tom; granddaughter, Lindsay Barnett-Joslyn and her daughters, Natalie and Athea; granddaughter, Kelly Barnett-McMahan, and husband, Charlie and children, Aiden and Sean; grandson, Thomas Ryan Barnett, grandson, Gregory Sazonov and wife, Robyn; brother-in-law, Earl T. Miller. Additionally, Louise is survived by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Anna Delventhal and brother, Donald Delventhal.

A longtime resident of Arlington, Louise was a member of the Arlington United Methodist Church. She attended school in Arlington, first riding a horse to school and later driving a Model A Ford. During World War II, she worked at Cessna Aircraft helping to make airplanes. Louise and Ralph later owned and operated Ralph's Café in Arlington. She worked in the grocery business over 40 years and continued to work part-time after retiring and moving to Virginia in the 1980s. She and Ralph loved gardening and enjoyed the fruits of their labor. Louise participated in the Virginia Senior Olympics. While in her seventies she became a gold medalist in basketball and the run-walk relay. Louise spent a lifetime giving and caring for others. She enjoyed cooking for her family and made pies the best of anyone. She will be greatly missed by her family and all that knew her.

Services will be held at the Elliott Mortuary Chapel, Hutchinson, Kansas, 10 a.m. Thursday, March 22, 2007. Visitation will be held 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, March 20, 2007, and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday, March 21, 2007, with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Burial will be at the Arlington Cemetery.
