Obituary

Lowell E. Foss, 93, died May 1, 2014, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. He was born July 7, 1920, on the farm south of Arlington, Kansas, the son of Elmer and Velma I. (Bruch) Foss. He graduated from Arlington High School in 1939, and later from the Salt City Business College. Lowell served in the United States Marine Corp during World War II and earned the Purple Heart in Okinawa.

Lowell was a farmer, and retired in 1982, after 34 years in lithography and off-set printing for the Mutual Press.

He was a member of the South Hutchinson United Methodist Church, where he served on many committees, worked in the church fair booth and was most recently a trustee.

Lowell joined the Arlington Masonic Lodge in 1941, and transferred to Hutchinson-Reno Masonic Lodge #124 A.F. & A.M. where he was a 32nd degree Mason.

He was a lifetime member of both the American Legion Lysle Rishel Post #68 and the V.F.W. Bob Campbell Post #1361.

He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose #982 and South Hutchinson Lions Club.

He married June Dixon on June 1, 1947, in Partridge Community Church. She preceded him in death on Dec. 9, 1991.

Survivors include: sons, Phil Foss and wife Debi of Enid, Okla., Greg C. Foss and wife Terry of Overland Park, KS; grandchildren, Drew Foss and wife Kallie of Salina, Ben Foss and wife Paige of Cincinnati, Ohio, Will Foss of Dallas: step-grandchildren, Will O'Neal of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Melissa O'Neal of Enid, Okla.; four great-grandchildren; and one step-great-grandchild; and a special thank you to his friend and caregiver, Lila Link.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two brothers, and two sisters.

Funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday, May 10, 2014, at South Hutchinson United Methodist Church, South Hutchinson, with Pastors Warren Hett and Mike Rose presiding.

Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today through Friday, with family to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. Burial will be in Partridge Cemetery, with Masonic Rites and Military Honors.

Memorials may be made to South Hutchinson United Methodist Church, or the Hutchinson-Reno Masonic Lodge #124 A.F. & A. M., both in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 North Main, Hutchinson, KS, 67501.
